Award-winning music star Adele has been in a relationship for over year, but she is keeping the identity of her boyfriend a closely guarded secret, it has been revealed.

It had been believed the singer - whose hit songs include Chasing Pavements - had been dating Slinky Sunbeam, bass guitarist with pop band The More Assured, according to the Metro.

She has however repudiated the rumour and insisted that the identity of her real boyfriend will remain a mystery as he is shy.

While at a party hosted by Jade Jagger - daughter of Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick - she remarked: "He hates all this showbiz crap. I'm not telling anyone who he is because he's very private and wouldn't like it, but we are very happy," she said.

Adele - who has two middle names, one of which is Blue, also said that she would be too nervous to follow in the footsteps of Amy Winehouse and sing a duet with Sir Mick Jagger.
