Brit finds love on US dating show

A British man has proposed to a 22-year-old actress from California in the finale of an American dating show.

Matt Grant was starring in the ABC show The Bachelor, in which he had to whittle down 25 women - dating each one over a six-week period - in order to find the love of his life.

He finally chose Shayne Lamas from Malibu over Chelsea Wanstrath, reports the Press Association

On the show, Mr Grant was described as a "totally charming and witty English gentleman who works with millionaire businessmen".

When proposing to Ms Lamas, he used her pet name Monkey.

Ms Lamas agreed to marry him, on the condition that, having dated and rejected 24 other women, he would never lust after another woman as long as he lives.

Mr Grant was assisted in making his final decision by his parents and five brothers.

Previous series of The Bachelor have included an Italian called Lorenzo Borghese and US Navy doctor by the name of Andy Baldwin.
