Speed dating for environmentalists takes off in US

Green speed dating is anew craze that has taken off in Santa Monica, according to reports.

The event is for eco-friendly people who want to find like-minded individuals to talk to.

In its simplest form the concept is to get 40 people (20 men and 20 women) together and have them all talk to each other for a few minutes at a time. After the initial introductions have taken place every one draws up a list of who they would like to see again.

Every one is then contacted 24 hours later and is told which people have mutually chose them, further dates are then arranged, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Green speed dating is open to anyone aged between 25 to 40-years-old and is taking place at The Hideout, 112 West Channel Road at 18:15 to 21:00.

Individuals interested in becoming involved in ecological issues could be interested in taking part in the Developing Communities programme.

It is currently working to help build communities in Nicuragua.
