There was a very interesting article in the Metro today stating that  the number of eligible single men is dwindling.    According to a top US expert, women want employed, sociable men but he predicts that soon almost 40 per cent of women will be living on their own.    He says it’s becoming harder and harder for women to meet quality guys.

Well guess what, we at the Single Solution don’t believe this at all. Yes, it’s true that it’s getting harder to meet people as people have less and less free time.  However, we run quality events every week for professionals all over London.  If you want to know where the good men are ( and women!) then just come to a couple of our parties.

The advice is simple – if you want to meet someone then it’s time to go and buy a nice outfit, get your hair done and try some of our events.    More and more men are starting to realise this and we sometimes have to turn them away to balance the numbers.

We’ve had some great feedback about our recent events but we’ve also has some requests for extra activities:

“I like the format. I would also like events with some kind of focus / entertainment.”

The good news is that we do often have extra entertainment at our larger events as we have larger crowds. For our coming Autumn party we have Ceroc dancing which makes a fantastic icebreaker.   It’s like a dancing version of speed dating, where you are taught easy dance steps and change partners regularly.    Our big Halloween party has our hugely popular live covers band  – Itchy and Scratchy and our much loved magician Ravi Mayar.  We are even including free tarot readings with our expert reader Hayley Blake.

We try and vary our entertainment and other parties might include chocolate fountains, classical duos, comedy nights or wine tastings.

If you have any suggestion for other activities/entertainment that would work well then we’d love to hear them. We’re always looking to try fun new things!

After analysing 6000 recent messages, we have worked out that on average 4 out of 10 new people contacted on the site WILL reply.

Someone asked me at an event recently as to whether or not singles companies would suffer during the Credit Crunch.  I replied that this really wouldn’t be an issue as single people will always want to find other singles and are prepared to pay to meet the right ones.

A recent survey by a large American site True.com backed this up with some very interesting findings.  They polled 1000’s of singles and found that:

49% of men and 36% of women stated they would not curb their dating spending in a tight economy.

73% of men and 68% of women feel secure in their current financial situation

95% of men and 87% of women agree that it does not matter if you make more money than the person you are dating.

87% of men and 80% of women responded they would stay in a relationship where their partner had substantial credit card debt or had filed for bankruptcy.

67% of women and 66% of men claim they have never kept financial secrets from someone they are dating.

Dating really doesn’t have to be expensive.  There are plenty of low budget or even free options out there.    Museums and Art Galleries are instant icebreakers and offer lots to talk about.  If you pay them a small yearly membership fee then you’ll get invited to special “preview and launch” evenings. Your date will feel privileged to attend such exclusive events and you’ll gain instant kudos.   Bookstores often hold talks from well known authors too.   Rather than spending a fortune on a meal in a restaurant, it can be very romantic to arrange a picnic in a park.  Even when the weather turns cold, nobody is going to fail to be impressed with some hot chocolate or mulled wine.

Ever thought about why so many online dating profiles don’t have photos?

it might be

1. I’m too shy or embarrassed – but still want to meet people

2. I didn’t have a photo at the time – but I still want to meet people

3. I’m bit computer illiterate – but I still want to meet people

4. I was just wanting to attend events – but I still want to meet people

5. I was just having a look, or I’m lazy – but I still want to meet people

The common theme is that these people, still want to meet new people, why else would they be on a dating site. Sure some are timewasters BUT

I bet no-one else has sent them a message:

This puts YOU in the driving seat. Yes, its going to take a bit more effort on your part, but why not contact 10 to 20 new people who’s profiles you like, in the right age group, and see what happens?

We find that so many of these people are really flattered to be contacted. If you have a photo in your profile, they can see who you are so if you get a reply then you are already AHEAD of the game. You can always ask them for a photo.

I just did a quick search and found this lady. A dentist, into world travel, sounds good to me.

Its good for everyone

Don’t underestimate the power of this.  Contacting these people gets them involved in the site, encourages them to add photos, and makes the site busier for everyone.

Ok, OK, so it also encourages them to sign up – but that’s good for you too and gives us a few more pennies to invest in more marketing to recriut more lovely people – Good for you again.  See, its win win win.
