Dating Problem: Losing your Freedom

Monday, February 28th, 2011

Sometimes people are scared of relationships because it threatens their independence.

cling

So here’s my advice to make sure this doesn’t become a problem.

Top tips:

1)  Stop calling and texting them every two minutes.   By giving them space they’ll get time to miss you and attraction is often increased by the mind.

2)  You can’t change them, so stop trying.  It’s only in time that they’ll adapt their behaviour to fit in with yours.

3)  Don’t be clingy or needy, but always make them feel they are the most important person in your life.

4)  Show an interest in their own hobbies, life, ambitions etc.   If they feel you are genuine and supportive ‘ll share them with you and won’t be afraid to enjoy them without you.

5)  Keep busy. The more you have on, the more they will treasure the time you spend together.  If they know you are socially popular then she’s subconsciously want to be with you more often.

Good luck!

Service Interruption

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

About 7pm last night, 22nd Feb, our service was interrupted due to a major technical issue. The site has now been restored as at 11am on the 21st February so we have lost about a day of data.

We are in the process of manually restoring what we can in terms of memberships and event bookings.

Any messages sent since that time are now lost. Please resend any messages that you sent during this time.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. This matter was beyond our control.

We have taken all necessary steps to repair the issue to prevent it happening again.

How many photos should you have?

Monday, February 21st, 2011

This is a common question I get asked.

Photoo

Is it better to have one photo or several?

Some people like to add a vast selection of photos to their online dating profiles.  They add action shots, photos of them on holiday, with their pets, swimming in lakes etc.  This is all very well and good but you should keep one thought in mind every time you add one:   Does it add value?

Each photo you upload will be judged carefully by the viewer.   If it raises alarm bells for any reason whatsoever then they’ll quickly move on to the profile.  However, if it’s an interesting shot it might serve as a fantastic excuse for them to contact you – an instant icebreaker.

My advice would be to stick to two or three images.  One clear headshot ( no sunglasses or hats please!) and one full body shot.  A third one can be a holiday or photo of you doing something out of the norm.  If you only have one photo then viewer will wonder why that is and what you might be hiding.

I’d always advise you to rotate your main photo every two – three weeks.  That way you might get a second chance if someone has overlooked you before.  They’ll see a new image and assume it’s a new person, doubling your chances of hearing back from them.

Of course, if you do only have one photo then you need to make sure it’s THE best photo you have.

Happy dating!

The End of Online Dating?

Monday, February 14th, 2011

In the era of social networking, it’s free and easy to connect online.

Social

So what does this mean for online dating?

The natural assumption is that now you can contact people for free, why woud you need to pay to use an online dating site.

On some sites, it’s simple enough to search for singles in your area. However, this is a feature that Facebook used to have but have long since removed. Why did they decide to stop people searching? Simple – so they can get advertising revenue directing users to online dating sites! As well as this it’s becoming increasingly difficult to view the profiles of people you don’t actually know.

The truth is that unless you are under 25, social networking isn’t for dating purposes. After all, who really wants to declare to the world they are single AND looking?
What’s more, do you want a potential date to see every little thing you are up to and scrutinise every photo?

Yes, there are free online dating sites out there. But serious daters don’t sign up for these as they are full of low quality people. If you join one of these profiles are monitored and you don’t know if they are real or not. If no payment is being made then it’s impossible to check they are the person they are claiming to be. If you wanted to set up a profile as a famous film star on there you could do it in minutes. The same is true for any social networking site.

You really only do get what you pay for. A quality online dating site, like Singlesoluton.com will naturally attract quality members. They have each made the commitment to pay for a membership as they are serious about meeting other singles. Online Dating continues to grow and and grow as the stigma has long gone. In fact one in every two singles is on an online dating site. It’s a thriving business because it gets results.   Singlesolution.com is the leading online dating site for London professionals.

So the verdict is this: Facebook for friends, LinkedIn for business and Online Dating for dates.

Good luck!

Top Valentine Cash-ins

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

Valentine’s Day is almost here and everyone wants to make money from it.

Cuke

Here are my top 5 Valentine’s funny Valentine’s products:

It’s amazing the things that some companies will develop in the hope of getting a bit of press space this time of year.

1)  The heart shaped Half Cucumber.  Sainsbury’s  has introduced this new vegetable which we can only assume is to be served with a heart shaped salad.

2) The  Pie. The “Aphro-piety”  mixes chicken thigh, perry cider and asparagus in a lemon-infused cream sauce    This delicious Pie is made from aphrodisiac ingredients.   So eating it is supposed to get you in the mood for love.

3) “”I’m Just a Love Machine” boxer shorts on sale at Poundland.  The perfect romantic gift.

4) Two Steak Meals a bottle of wine for £14.99 at Wetherspoons.   Just the place for a candlelit dinner….in the company or all the students and old men nursing their pints.

5) The Gun Swap.  Believe it or not, but a shop in Alabama is offering to exchange sex toys for guns this Valentine’s Day.

Personally, if you want to still be together next Valentine’s Day I’d stick to the more traditional flowers and chocolates! If you’ve seen a more ridiculous Valentine’s Cash In – let us know here!

Why you must talk to strangers

Monday, February 7th, 2011

We are all told from an early age that we mustn’t talk to strangers.

strangers

So many people avoid this right into adult life.

Strangers are dangerous, strangers might be nasty people….or so we are conditioned to believe. But this is something you really must do!  It’s not something you should be afraid of.

Think of every friend you’ve got and every person you’ve ever dated.  These are people you’ve shared your innermost thoughts with.

What do they have in common?  That’s right, they were once just a stranger to you!

So don’t sit back and wait for people to approach you.  Go out of your way to go up and say hello to anyone you might find interesting.  The first few seconds are the hard part, but once you’ve introduced yourselves you magically stop being strangers.  You don’t have to choose to talk to every single person,  just make sure that you make the decision to give as many as possible a fair chance.

The love of your life might not be at a particular party or event, but one day they will be.   So make sure you are ready for them and take control of your destiny.  Every single relationship you’ll ever have starts with a “hello!”

Good luck!
